About

Hi, I'm Els. I know exactly what it feels like to stand in a house that doesn't yet feel like yours.

    01.

    A first move, alone

In 2016, I moved from Belgium to Germany for my career. I arrived alone, knowing no one, and suddenly had to build an entirely new life from scratch.

    02.

    Where home found me

One of the first things I did was make my apartment feel like home. I poured my energy into creating a space that felt warm, calm and comforting. A place where, after a long day of navigating a new language, a new culture and the loneliness that can come with starting over, I could simply breathe.

"Looking back, I realise I was already designing a home that would support me."

Slowly, Germany became more than the place I had moved to. It became the place where I found love, met my husband, and where together we started our family.

    03.

    A new nest abroad

Years later, we moved abroad so our children could grow up close to their grandparents. Watching them build those relationships is a gift. But even with the excitement of a new chapter, I discovered once again that a house doesn't become a home just because the suitcases are unpacked. It asks for a deeper kind of nesting.

    What two moves taught me

Moving abroad with my family was a very different experience from arriving alone in Germany, yet the emotions were surprisingly familiar. On the outside, an incredible adventure. On the inside, endless logistics, a new language, a different culture and the quiet work of finding your footing again.

Those two moves taught me something I carry with me today: while you're busy building a new life, your home needs to be the one place where you can instantly drop your guard, exhale and feel safe. It should restore you, support you and give you a sense of belonging, even before the rest of your life has fallen into place.

With over a decade of marketing and strategy at a premium car brand, a passion for intentional interior styling and a quiet love for the rhythms of nature, I created Alma Nido.

Because I know firsthand that when your home supports you, it's so much easier to build the life you came for.

    My training

My approach connects three areas I am continuously studying and deepening: how a house is styled, how a space feels and functions, and the emotional transition of moving abroad.
